Revitalization Task Force

Objectives

The Upper Moreland Township Revitalization Task Force, a committee appointed by the Upper Moreland Board of Commissioners as part of Montgomery County’s Economic Development plan has two primary objectives:

• New Revitalization Plan - Primary task is to create an updated revitalization plan to benefit the township’s overall economic development plan. This task involves updating the existing plan and on determining the areas that would benefit the most from this program. A total of three public participation meetings have been held with the input from the public added to the new plan.
• Willow Grove Train Station Relocation study - The task force is also serving as the steering committee for the Train Station relocation project. The group has hosted a series of public participation presentations about committing the township to the feasibility study. Representatives from the county, SEPTA and the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission have been involved in the planning process. A total of three Train station feasibility public meetings have presented locations and concepts as to how best to use the Willow Grove Train Station.

Revitalization Plan

Upper Moreland township revitalization task force is currently in the final stages of submitting a Revitalization plan to the Township board of Commissioners. After holding its monthly meetings and public input sessions to further refine the revitalization area and accompanying projects, the task force will finalize the information gathered at the December 28 meeting.

The revised Plan is due for submission to the Montgomery County Revitalization Board by March 31, 2012. , After the March deadline, the county will send the final draft back to the township for any minor modifications, and a decision for an approval would then be expected by April.
