Parks & Recreation Programs

The Department of Parks & Recreation offers programs for all ages througout the year. Look for special events and trips that we have scheduled for our residents. We also host a senior citizen's club as well as a variety of adult sports leagues.   • General Registration Form
    Please click on the link below to download the registration form. This form can be used to register for all activities WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SUMMER CAMPS. This form should be completed and sent to the UM Parks & Recreation Department. 117 Park Ave Willow Grove, PA 19090
  • Activities
    The Parks and Recreation Department provides three brochure/newsletters annually, as well as program flyers. Each brochure/newsletter is full of valuable information pertaining to seasonal offerings. We offer a Summer Newsletter, Fall Newsletter, and Winter/Spring Newsletter. Brochures and newsletters are distributed to all public and parochial schools, are available in the township building and the library, and at other locations.
    • 2014 SUMMER PROGRAMS
      There are a lot of exciting programs coming up this summer! See flyers for details. REGISTRATION BEGINS IN APRIL!
    • Department Trips
      The department runs trips to various locations at different times of the year. We offer trips to sporting events, NYC, a variety of shows, shopping, sightseeing etc. The cost includes round-trip transportation AND other items as noted in specific descriptions. Check back often to see what exciting trip we have scheduled! If you have a suggestion for an interesting day trip, please contact our office. We love to hear your ideas.
    • Discount Tickets
      The Upper Moreland Township Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the PA Recreation and Parks Society, is pleased to offer DISCOUNTED AMUSEMENT PARK TICKETS and DISCOUNTED SKI LIFT TICKETS. The tickets are offered on a first paid basis; the offer is good only while supplies last. Our supply of tickets may be replenished periodically throughout the season. Proceeds benefit the U.M. Gifts-For-Parks Program. Payment for all tickets must be made in cash, money order, or bank cashiers check (payable to Upper Moreland Twp.). No personal checks can be accepted. Some tickets may have restrictions, inquire at the Parks and Recreation Office. Tickets are good for the entire operating season (unless noted). NO REFUNDS! Amusement Park tickets are usually available beginning May 1 and ski lift tickets are usually available beginning December 1.

        Regal Tickets are NOW $7.50 Each ~ CASH ONLY No Expiration Date (Not good for new releases but can be upgraded at the theater for an additional $1.50) Must come to the parks and recreation office to purchase
      • The Book of Mormon
        See one of Broadway's HOTTEST shows, right here in Phila. at the Forrest Theater. Save the service charge & buy from us! This show is for MATURE audiences! See flyer for details.
    • Special Events
      The department offers several special events for youngsters and the entire family. Events include holiday drawing contests, winter holiday contests, Pumpkins on Parade Halloween event, Thanksgiving “Fowl” shooting contest, and other events throughout the year. Check this section often as events are continuously updated.
      • Pajama Jammy Jam -- Series of One-Night PJ Parties for the Kids!
        Parents, need a night out? Drop off the kids and they'll have fun while you have free time. Check flyers for individual details.
      • Pickleball "Learn and Play" & Pickleball Meet-Ups
        Come and see what the fastest growing sport in the nation is all about! Great for adults and kids alike!

  • Programs - Adult
    To register, mail or drop off your completed registration form with payment to the parks and recreation office. Programs are subject to cancellation based on enrollment. To avoid cancellation and/or being waitlisted, please register 1 week before class begins.
    • Adult Karate
      NEW SESSION BEGINS IN APRIL, 2014. Discipline, humility, and a desire to achieve will be acquired in this fun and interesting class. Steve Curley, our instructor, was a police officer in Upper Moreland Township for 33 years, before recently retiring. He has been with the club since 1982 and currently holds the rank of 5th degree Black Belt. He used skills learned while serving as a police officer and is ready to work to teach you the fundamentals of Shotokan Karate, while also helping to improve focusing skills and self-confidence.

    • "WEE" Are Writers
      NEW this season! We will encourage your little ones to write by engaging in some fun fine-motor skill activities that strengthen their writing muscles. They will learn some fun ways to get interested in writing. Your child will get into kid-writing & handwriting without tears through journaling & other fun activities.
    • "WEE" Builders
      Kids will make a different project each week. We supply all the tools & materials necessary for your little builder to construct simple, yet awesome projects. Legos, blocks & other building items are also explored. For ages 3+.
    • "WEE" Explore
      We explore our environment, nature, animals, science & much more. A new topic each week with a new theme helps children understand the importance & fascination the world has to offer. Books, crafts, circle time & other fun activities make learning a snap!
    • "WEE" Kick Soccer
      One of our most popular programs! Designed to teach your child the "fun"damentals of soccer, as well as allowing interaction in a team-like setting.
    • "WEE" Love to Read
      Let's help your child develop a love of reading at an early age. We will explore books through our animated storyteller who engages your child in each book that is read. The stories come alive through child interaction & crafts that expand the learning. Reading fluency strategies also are discussed for independent reading as well as reading records for you to take home.
    • "WEE" Make a Mess
      We will provide the place, instruction, supplies & we will even provide the clean-up. Kids will dive into this untidy agenda of paint, shaving cream, play dough, markers & whatever else we can come up with. Fun has never been so messy!
    • "WEE" Make Music
      An immersion in music through singing, playing, dancing, movement, literacy, & listening. Kids sing simple songs, engage in rhythmic finger plays, move to the music, play musical instruments, & explore & hear full-sized instruments. Our goal is to develop a love for, & an interest in, music!
    • "WEE" Play Games
      Game on! Children will learn & play new games, as well as old favorites. Class promotes friendly competition, as well as learning to take turns. We play games where everyone wins & all are included. Parents, need some activity ideas for your child's next birthday party? Come play with us, take our ideas, & use them to entertain your guests.
    • "WEE" Sports
      Teamwork & fun is the name of the game. Introduce your youngster to a variety of popular sports. Our instructors take a fun, hands-on approach to make the first impression of the sport a memorable one. Participants receive an award upon completion.

    • American Red Cross Babysitter's Training
      The next session will be Tues., May 20, 2014. This certification course provides teens with the confidence and skills to care for youngsters. Prospective employers will be happy to hire babysitters who have acquired this official recognition. Upon completion of the course, you will receive an ARC Certification Card, an informational CD-ROM, as well as child care concepts. You must attend the entire course, pass the evaluations, and show the maturity to properly care for children. Please bring a lunch, snack, pen & notebook.

    • Young Rembrandts Afterschool Drawing
