Parks & Recreation Programs
The Department of Parks & Recreation offers programs for all ages througout the year. Look for special events and trips that we have scheduled for our residents. We also host a senior citizen's club as well as a variety of adult sports leagues. To register, download the General Registration Form, complete and return with payment to the Parks and Recreation Office.

Adult Karate
Adult/Advanced - 15 classes meet on Mondays & Thursdays, Jan. 9 - Mar. 8 (omit 1/16 & 2/20)
Time: Mon. 7:45pm - 9pm

Fee: $60 R / $90 NR
Discipline, humility, and desire to achieve. Acquire these skills and much more in this fun and interesting class. Our instructors are certified, caring individuals who will work closely with each participant to teach you the fundamentals of Shotokan Karate, while also helping children improve focusing skills and self-confidence.

Fishing - Fly Fishing Tactics & Strategies
5 classes meet on Tuesdays, Jan. 10 – Feb. 7
Ages: 18+
Location: UM High School room 608
Time: 7pm-9pm
Fee: $57 R / $57 NR
Improve your skills and catch more fish! Learn how to “read” the waters of a trout stream. Find out where fish live, how to approach them, and how to catch them. Know what they feed on and learn the types of flies to use at different times of the year. Become a better fisherman and reduce your chances of coming up empty. The instructor is one of the area’s most successful trout anglers and has logged thousands of hours fishing and instructing on East Coast.

If you’re interested in fly-fishing, this is the course you’ve been waiting for. Don’t wait: be ready for opening day. Learn how to create wet flies, dry flies, nymphs, streamer, and bass bugs. Suggestions for tools & materials will be given. Class is for beginners AND advanced fly fishermen.

American Red Cross Babysitting
Friday, February 17 ~ District Holiday
Time: 9am – 3pm
Ages: 11 – 15
Location: Pileggi Park Soccer Clubhouse
Fee: $45 R / $67 NR
This certification course provides teens with the confidence and skills to care for youngsters. Prospective employers will be happy to hire babysitters who have acquired this official recognition. Upon completion of the course, you will receive an ARC Certification Card, an informational CD-ROM, as well as child care concepts. You must attend the entire course, pass the evaluations, and show the maturity to properly care for children. Please bring a lunch, snack, pen & notebook.

If you build it, fun will come. Get ready to make a different project each week. We will supply all the tools and materials necessary for your little builder to construct simple, yet awesome projects. Legos, blocks and other building items will also be explored. Recommended for ages 4+ due to craft activities.

Wee Make Music

Location: Settlement Music School, Willow Grove

An immersion in music through singing, dancing, movement, literacy & listening. Sing simple songs, engage in finger plays and move to the sound. Your child will explore full-sized instruments as well as play some of their own small-scaled instruments. We will help develop a love for music!

Programs, Brochures, Newsletters & Flyers
The Parks and Recreation Department provides three brochure/newsletters annually, as well as program flyers. Each brochure/newsletter is full of valuable information pertaining to seasonal offerings. We offer a Summer Newsletter, Fall Newsletter, and Winter/Spring Newsletter. Brochures and newsletters are distributed to all public and parochial schools, are available in the township building and the library, and at other locations.

Department Trips
The department runs trips to various locations at different times of the year. We offer trips to sporting events, NYC, a variety of shows, shopping, sightseeing etc. The cost includes round-trip transportation AND other items as noted in specific descriptions. Check back often to see what exciting trip we have scheduled! If you have a suggestion for an interesting day trip, please contact our office. We love to hear your ideas.

Discount Tickets
The Upper Moreland Township Department of Parks and Recreation, in cooperation with the PA Recreation and Parks Society, is pleased to offer DISCOUNTED AMUSEMENT PARK TICKETS and DISCOUNTED SKI LIFT TICKETS. The tickets are offered on a first paid basis; the offer is good only while supplies last. Our supply of tickets may be replenished periodically throughout the season. Proceeds benefit the U.M. Gifts-For-Parks Program. Payment for all tickets must be made in cash, money order, or bank cashiers check (payable to Upper Moreland Twp.). No personal checks can be accepted. Some tickets may have restrictions, inquire at the Parks and Recreation Office. Tickets are good for the entire operating season (unless noted). NO REFUNDS! Amusement Park tickets are usually available beginning May 1 and ski lift tickets are usually available beginning December 1.

Special Events
The department offers several special events for youngsters and the entire family. Events include holiday drawing contests, winter holiday contests, Pumpkins on Parade Halloween event, Thanksgiving “Fowl” shooting contest, and other events throughout the year. The Golden Reporter is a resourceful publication that will keep you up to date on Golden Age Club issues such as future meetings, events, and trips.
