A Message from the Board of Commissioners
As your elected representatives, we remain committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful community for all who live, work, and visit Upper Moreland Township.
We recognize that recent national conversations around immigration enforcement have raised questions and concerns. We want to be clear: Immigration enforcement is NOT the responsibility of our Police Department. The Upper Moreland Township Police Department does not participate in federal programs—such as ICE’s 287(g)—that authorize local law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws. Our officers do not act as immigration authorities, do not enforce administrative warrants related to immigration status, and do not stop, question, or detain individuals solely based on their immigration status.
The mission of our Police Department is to protect and enhance the quality of life for all residents, citizens, and visitors by providing professional, unbiased, competent, and compassionate law enforcement services. Officers act only when there is a clear violation of Pennsylvania law or our township ordinances. Our officers' focus is on lawful, common-sense policing that protects all members of our community and reinforces the values of transparency, safety, and mutual respect.
We deeply value the trust our residents have placed in their municipal government. That trust is essential—it encourages people to seek our assistance for issues, including reporting crimes, and engaging law enforcement without fear. We are proud of the relationships our Township officials and staff have built with the community, and we remain committed to preserving that trust through fairness, integrity, and accountability.
Upper Moreland Township stands united in our dedication to public safety and community well-being. We thank you for your continued partnership and support.
